Ubisoft Entertainment has announced that they're starting up 'Ubisoft Motion Pictures' with as goal to make movies of their top game franchises.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, one of those top series, was brought to the big screen last year by Jerry Bruckheimer and was in total good for about $335 million revenue. Ubi now sees things really big and therefore has created this new movie venture.
Ubisoft Motion Pictures will be headed by Jean-Julien Baronnet, former CEO of EuropaCorp. Didier Lupfer will take care of production and development while Jean de Rivieres, who used to work for Walt Disney Motion Pictures France, will take care of marketing and international sales.
Who knows. Maybe we'll soon be getting Hollywood versions of Splinter Cell or Assassin´s Creed. On the other hand: the movie based on Hitman shows it isn't easy to make a good movie based on a game series.
