Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston beat Justin Bieber to top spot at the US box office this weekend with less than $1m between them.

The 16-year-old's documentary was narrowly beaten to the top by Aniston and Adam Sandler's film, Just Go With It.

But the Valentine's Day weekend was a close one as Adam and Jennifer's romantic comedy debuted with $31 million dollars, according to studio estimates.

That was just ahead of Bieber's Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, which opened a close second with $30.3 million.

The movies were close enough that the rankings could change when the studios release their official numbers later today.

Disney's animated flick Gnomeo & Juliet opened in third place with $25.5 million
